The Galácticos Era
The early 2000s were unlike anything football had seen before.
Real Madrid were building a team around the biggest names in world football, bringing together some of the game's most talented and recognisable players at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Galácticos project had already captured the imagination of football supporters around the world, and by the 2002/03 season, Real Madrid had assembled a side capable of producing moments of brilliance every week.
Under Vicente del Bosque, the team combined individual talent with experience and an established winning mentality.
The 2002/03 La Liga Season
Real Madrid faced strong competition throughout the campaign, but their quality eventually saw them finish at the top of La Liga.
They secured the title with 78 points, finishing ahead of Real Sociedad, who pushed them all the way during an exciting title race.
The championship was particularly significant as it became the final major trophy of Vicente del Bosque's hugely successful spell as Real Madrid manager.
Despite delivering the league title, Del Bosque's time at the club came to an end shortly afterwards, bringing one of the most successful chapters in Madrid's modern history to a close.
